11 Dec Post TAT #5 – How we slept on the TAT
We really wish we had camped more. Not only is it cheaper, but for us it is more fun. We struggled to be in the right places at the right times though. At the end of the day there wasn’t always a convenient campsite nearby, and a motel was the more realistic option. We originally budgeted for doing motels every other day, but had secretly hoped to be doing motels every 4th or even 5th day to tie in with rest days and laundry /maintenance days. We ended up doing something in between.

Worst motel
The one we stayed at in Trinidad Colorado. Everything was full including the campsite. It was expensive and grim. There was also a huge hole in the floor with a grate. No idea what it was, but it was creepy.
Best Campsite
Without a doubt it had to be the one we stayed at on the White Rim Trail. Great views, and we were the only ones there.
